Pathways to higher qualifications

Academic Pathways within New Zealand

Aspire2 International students and graduates have the opportunity to further extend their study either within New Zealand or elsewhere in the world through an extensive range of agreements with prestigious universities and other internationally recognised providers of Higher Education. 

Our network of academic pathways is growing as the reputation of Aspire2 International students and graduates is increasingly recognised by New Zealand universities and elsewhere in the world.

IT Graduates*

Auckland ICT Graduate School encourages graduates of Aspire 2 International to apply for the Masters of Information Technology (MInfoTech) at the Auckland ICT Graduate School. This programme includes a 10 week internship with an industry partner working on a real-life project. Specifically, the following level 7 Aspire2 International –Concordia Institute of Business programmes are recognised:

  • Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
  • Diploma in Information Technology (Business IT)
  • Diploma in Computing (Software or Networking specialisations)

Criteria for entry into the MInfoTech according to the University of Auckland regulations will require a B grade average or higher in any of the above programmes

IT Graduates*

AUT School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (SECM) will recognise the Aspire2 International qualifications as a pathway into the School’s Postgraduate programmes as follows:

Specifically, the following level 7 Aspire programmes are recognised:

  • Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
  • Diploma in Information Technology (Business IT)
  • Diploma in Computing (Software or Networking specialisations)

Entry pathways into:

  • Master of Computer and Information Sciences (MCIS), 180 credit points (3 semesters of full time study)
  • Master of Service Oriented Computing (MSOC), 180 credit points (3 semesters of full time study)
  • Master of Information Security and Digital Forensics (MISDF), 180 credit points (3 semesters of full time study)
  • Master of Science (MSc), 180 credit points (3 semesters of full time study)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Computer and Information Sciences (PGCertCIS), 60 credit points (1 semester of full time study)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Computer and Information Sciences (PGDipCIS), 120 credit points (2 semesters of full time study).

Engineering graduates*

Graduates from Aspire2 International’s Queen’s Academic Group New Zealand Diploma in Engineering L6 and Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications L7 will receive one year credit towards AUT’s B Eng Tech with a possibility of further credits up to a total of 180 points depending on the major chosen with us and the elective papers studied at Aspire2International.

Hospitality graduates*

Students who have successfully completed the New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (level 6) at Aspire2 International –National Institute of Education will be granted a maximum of 120 points credit towards AUT’s Bachelor of International Hotel Management. (BIHM).  At the time of application, the students must meet all admission requirements of AUT, including English Language requirements, and provide an official transcript.

IT Graduates*

The following level 7 Aspire2 International –Concordia Institute of Business programmes are recognised by Massey University

  • Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
  • Diploma in Information Technology (Business IT)
  • Diploma in Computing (Software or Networking specialisations)

Students who have completed one of the above named diplomas with a B grade average (or higher) will be admitted to the Master of Information Sciences as long as they have also completed at least one of the further qualifications listed below.

  1. a 3-year diploma or above at an overseas tertiary institution with a B grade average (or higher), or
  2. an approved Bachelors degree at an overseas university, or
  3. an approved New Zealand Diploma (or diplomas) such that:
  4. the number of credits reaches a total of at least 360
  5. at least 240 credits must be Level 6 or higher

These totals include the credits from the Level 7 diplomas listed above.

Business Graduates*

Massey Business School has agreed to staircase students who have completed one of the following full-time one-year, 120-credit, Level 7 Programmes from Aspire2 institutions (Concordia Institute of Business);

  • Diploma in Accounting Level 7
  • Diploma in Business Accounting Level 7
  • Diploma in Business Level 7
  • Diploma in Business Management (with Specialisations) Level 7
  • Diploma in Health Services Management Level 7
  • Diploma in Technology Management (with Specialisations) Level 7
  • Graduate Diploma in Applied Management (with Specialisations) Level 7

into the Master of Management (MMgt) and the Master of Business Studies (MBS) based on the policy covered in points 1-46 below.

  1. Students who gain entry to one of the above Level 7 Diplomas from Aspire2 with a Bachelor degree in any subject from a recognised university (Massey will verify university status using the NARIC database), and who have subsequently completed one of the above Level 7 Diplomas with a B grade average in Level 7 courses or better, will gain entry to the MMgt and MBS.
  2. Students who gain entry to one of the above Level 7 Diplomas from Aspire2 with a Bachelor degree in any subject from a university not listed in the NARIC database, and who have subsequently completed one of the above Level 7 Diplomas with a B grade average in Level 7 courses or better, will gain entry to the 120 credit Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) with the option of completing a MMgt if the achieve a B- average or better in the PGDip.
  3. Students must present evidence of having completed the Level 7 Diploma with Aspire2 when they apply for entry to the MMgt and MBS.
  4. Additional entry criteria may apply for entry into the MMgt and MBS if the student does not meet the criteria as set out above. Note some Majors/Endorsements in the MMgt and MBS may have additional entry criteria.

University of Waikato ICT Graduate School encourages graduates of Aspire 2 International -Concordia Institute of Business to apply for the Masters of Information Technology (MInfoTech) at the University of Waikato Graduate School. This programme includes a 10 week internship with an industry partner working on a real-life project.

Specifically, the following level 7 Aspire programmes are recognised:

  • Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
  • Diploma in Computing (Software or Networking specialisations)

Criteria for entry into the MInfoTech according to the University of Waikato regulations will require a B grade average or higher in any of the above programmes

Business Graduates*

Lincoln University welcomes Aspire2International –Concordia Institute of Business graduates into their Master of Business Finance and Accounting Level 9 and Master of Business in Global Business and Marketing L9. Both Masters degrees may be completed in 12-18 months. All eligible candidates are entitled to a $10,000 scholarship from Lincoln University

This pathway is available for Graduates of the University of Northampton BA (Hons) Business and Management degree which can be completed while studying as Aspire2 International’s Auckland campus. It is also available to any graduate of a Level 7 Diploma at Aspire2 International –Concordia Institute of Business,   subject to successful completion of a Bachelor degree in their own country.

Business Graduates

Students who successfully complete the New Zealand Diploma in Management Level 5 or Level 6 at Aspire2 International -Concordia Institute of Business receive credit towards Unitec Institute of Technology’s Bachelor of Business (Management and Marketing Majors).


Academic Pathways beyond New Zealand

Aspire2 International has a special relationship with the University of Northampton in the UK that provides an opportunity for eligible Business students to earn a University of Northampton degree while studying at our Auckland campus. Students having satisfactorily completed the NZ Diploma in Business Level 5 can progress to the second year of BA (Hons) Business Studies at the University of Northampton. Graduates of the NZ Diploma in Business Level 6 can progress to the final year of the University of Northampton BA (Hons) Business and Management while studying at our Auckland campus.

Aspire2 International –Concordia Institute of Business Diploma in Business Accounting L7 course is accredited by ACCA. Students who complete the programme can complete the ACCA F9 exam and continue with the professional level without doing any of F1 to F8 ACCA examinations. Students can progress with the ACCA qualification within a ten year time limit from the date of registration.

Graduates of the Diploma in Commerce Level 5, Diploma of Business Management Level 5, Level 6 (Advanced), and Diploma in Business Management (with specialisations) Level 7 with a minimum “B” (3.00/4.33) GDA have a pathway at Royal Roads University into the third year of

  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainability and International Business
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management

Graduates of the National Diploma Hospitality Level 5 gain advanced standing into Le Cordon Bleu Bachelor of Business degree in Hotel or Restaurant Management. Graduates of the National Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery) Level 4 gain advanced standing into the Le Cordon Bleu Diplome Avance de Gestion Culinaire. This pathway arrangement is with the Le Cordon Bleu campuses in Sydney and Adelaide, Australia.

Students who have successfully completed our Business or Computing Diploma at Level 5, 6 or 7 and meet the academic and English entry requirements for QUT programmes, are eligible to apply for advanced standing.
